Unlock PDF
Remove a password you know. Free — no signup, no watermarks.
How it works
- 1Open the protected PDF and enter its password if it needs one to open.
- 2Click Unlock. The encryption is removed on your device — the password is never sent anywhere.
- 3Download the unlocked PDF, which opens freely from now on.
Common questions
›Can this crack a PDF whose password I don't know?
No. If a file needs a password to open, you must know it — AES encryption can't be bypassed, here or anywhere. What this tool does is permanently remove protection you're entitled to remove, so you stop retyping a password on a file you own. Only unlock documents you own or are authorized to modify.
›Why unlock a PDF at all?
Password-protected files are painful in workflows: they can't be merged, compressed, previewed, or indexed, and everyone you share them with needs the password. Once a file no longer needs protection, unlocking it makes it a normal PDF again.
›Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser — the file is opened, processed, and saved on your own device. There is no upload in the code path, which you can verify by watching the network tab, or by loading the page and then switching to airplane mode: the tool still works.
